Horticultural crops of all sectors contribute essentially to human health and wellbeing. The sectors include: ornamentals, fruits, vegetables and woody plants. The research projects of the Institute of Horticultural Production Systems cover all aspects of the value chains of these crops. The projects range over very different aspects, starting with plant propagation and breeding, they also cover production under both field and greenhouse conditions, and they embrace plant protection (pests and diseases, drought, salinity, frost…) and the on-plant development of fruit quality and the maintenance of product quality right through the postharvest value chain. We offer courses addressing the three degree porgrammes: Molecular and Applied Plant Sciences, International Horticulture and Plant Biotechnology.
